Mumbai, (Maharashtra) [India] 15 August 2026: On the birth anniversary of legendary filmmaker Late Shri Sultan Ahmed, his family and Sultan Productions remember a filmmaker whose vision, storytelling and contribution left an enduring mark on Hindi cinema.
Sultan Ahmed began his cinematic journey working with legendary filmmaker K. Asif on Mughal-e-Azam, before establishing himself as a successful producer and director. His celebrated films include Heera, Ganga Ki Saugandh, Dharam Kaanta, Daata and Jai Vikraanta.
His contribution to cinema was recognised with several honours. For Daata, Sultan Ahmed received the Punjabi Kala Sangam Award, presented to him by the then President of India, Shri Giani Zail Singh. His work also received recognition from the U.P. Film Journalists Association, while Ganga Ki Saugandh received a Certificate of Merit at Tashkent.
Sultan Ahmed’s world extended beyond films. In the 1990s, he invited boxing legend Muhammad Ali to Mumbai, hosting an event at the Holiday Inn in Juhu. The memorable occasion brought together personalities from Bollywood and the world of sport, with Muhammad Ali also presenting an award to actress Rekha for Ganga Ki Saugandh.

Today, his sons Ali Akbar Sultan Ahmed and Ali Abbas Sultan Ahmed continue their association with the entertainment industry through Think Big Entertainment, carrying forward the creative spirit and values of their father while building new opportunities across entertainment, content, events and media.
